Avengers: Endgame Delivers $156.7 Million on Friday, Breaking More Records

Endgame Ticket Sales Break First Day Record Set by The Force Awakens

Chalk up another set of box office records for Avengers: Endgame, as Walt Disney Studios reports the film brought in a colossal $156.7 million domestically for the highest opening day of all time in the US. The film debuted 32% ahead of tar Wars: The Force Awakens which opened to $119 million on its first day, and 47% ahead of Avengers: Infinity War which opened with $106 million on its first day. The studio is estimating a $310 to $340 million range for the film’s opening weekend, which would set yet another record.

Internationally the film has brought in $487 million as of Friday night, meaning it has already broken the record for the highest opening weekend internationally of all time with two days still remaining. The film eclipsed The Fate of the Furious‘ $443 million haul. Globally the movie has brought in an estimated $644 million as of Friday, giving it the highest opening weekend of all time with $644 million as of now, that number could go as high as $1 billion for the weekend alone.

Last year’s Infinity War saw the titular superhero team take the fight to Thanos in order to stop his attempt at exterminating half of the universe’s population with the Infinity stones. But it was to no avail, as he was able to successfully collect them all and snap his fingers, wiping out half of all life from existence in a cloud of ash.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Endgame.
