What should the Masters of the Universe audiences know about the movie beforehand?
The biggest thing to know about the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie is that, above all else, it’s a light-hearted affair. Unlike previous adaptations of the Masters of the Universe property, early reviews of the film note that it perfectly captures the spirit of the classic cartoon and toy line.
Many praise the fact that, instead of trying to explain some of its more fantastical elements, the movie is simply deadpan about their existence, making things seem much more normal in the film. Early reactions have also called the new movie “silly,” but in a way where the movie understands that its premise is inherently fantastical, and leans into it in an almost campy, self-aware nature.
Despite being based on a big property, the new movie also doesn’t require much in the way of knowledge about Masters of the Universe to enjoy. Although there are plenty of references and Easter eggs for fans, the new movie is perfectly fine to watch without knowing too much of the overarching lore surrounding the franchise.
