A new rumor regarding The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Silver Surfer has emerged online.
Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in United States theaters this coming July. Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie stars Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer alongside Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
What do we know about the Silver Surfer rumor?
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps won’t be the last time that the Silver Surfer appears in the MCU.
Richtman said, via ComicBookMovie, “There are plans for Silver Surfer [to] be in multiple projects after [The Fantastic Four: First Steps], including a solo film.”
This is a rumor that should be taken with a grain of salt at this time, as Marvel has not officially announced that a Silver Surfer solo movie is in the works. It has also not been confirmed that Garner will return for any future MCU projects after The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Garner did, however, previously say that she’d be interested in doing a spin-off movie.
She told Entertainment Weekly last month, “A hundred percent, I would love to do that. The Silver Surfer is such a cool character, and I feel like it’s so rare to be presented with any sort of mystery in this day and age. So any kind of energy like that on screen, I know I want to see that, so that would be awesome if that happened.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps — which also stars Ralph Ineson as Galactus alongside Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne — will be released in United States theaters on July 25, 2025. It is the first film in Phase Six of the MCU.
