Rachel Brosnahan Discusses Playing Lois Lane in DC’s Superman: Legacy

Rachel Brosnahan says she’s looking to bring something new to the character of Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

Speaking with ExtraTV at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Brosnahan was asked how her portrayal of Lois Lane in 2025’s Superman: Legacy will be different than past interpretations of the character.

“We’ve been having a lot of great conversations, David [Corenswet] and I, with James Gunn, the director,” Brosnahan answered. “We’ve been talking a lot about where this project fits into the canon of the Supermans we know. Hopefully, we’ll be putting our own stamp on things.”

When asked if Lois will be wearing glasses in Superman: Legacy, Brosnahan said, “I don’t know, actually. Maybe. We haven’t gotten that far in the fittings, yet.”

Who else stars in Superman: Legacy?

Corenswet is playing the titular Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy, which is being written and directed by James Gunn. The movie will also star Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

Superman: Legacy will be the first official film in Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU; however, prior to that, an animated Creature Commandos series will release in 2024. Additional film projects such as The Authority, Andy Muschietti’s The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing will follow Superman: Legacy, though none of these movies have a release date at this time.

Plot details for Superman: Legacy remain largely under wraps at this time. Gunn previously confirmed the film is looking to begin production in March 2024.

Superman: Legacy is currently scheduled to release on July 11, 2025, from DC Studios.
