Mary Elizabeth Winstead — who starred as Ramona Flowers in 2010’s live-action movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and recently reprised the role for the animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off — has a fan in her husband, Ewan McGregor. The Obi-Wan Kenobi star even has a shirt that he wears to remind her of his admiration.
Winstead shared the story of McGregor’s shirt while speaking to People, saying, “He has this shirt that he’ll break out every now and then and just wear that always makes me smile and laugh, which has a photo of me as Ramona Flowers and it says, ‘I’m in lesbians with her.'” The phrase refers to a joke from the film, in which “the L-word” is interpreted as “lesbians” rather than its contextual meaning of “love.”
“Sometimes when we’re out and about, he’ll take off his sweater and that’s the shirt he’s wearing,” Winstead said. “It makes me so happy.”

Released in 2010, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was a live-action film based on the Scott Pilgrim comic series written and illustrated by Bryan Lee O’Malley, first published in August 2004. In addition to Winstead, the movie adaptation starred Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as “Young” Neil Nordegraf, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie Richter, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
The full cast reunited to reprise their roles as the voices in Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which aired the eight episodes of its first season on November 17.
In the meantime, Winstead has entered the Star Wars universe as Hera Syndulla in 2023’s Ahsoka series, following McGregor’s return to his longtime role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the series of the same name. Both shows are available to stream now on Disney+.
