Original Jurassic Park Cast Had Input on Jurassic World: Dominion’s Script
There are plenty of reasons to get excited for Jurassic World: Dominion. However, the return of Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum is easily its biggest selling point. Naturally, it must have been intimidating for director Colin Trevorrow and co-scribes Derek Connolly and Emily Carmichael to write the characters who launched the Jurassic franchise nearly three decades ago. And this is why Trevorrow decided to invite the film’s stars to be part of the collaborative process. After all, who knows these characters better than the actors who played them?
Trevorrow recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about Neill, Dern, and Goldblum’s roles in Dominion. During their conversation, he revealed that he asked the actors to help craft their characters’ lines in the film’s screenplay.
“We would write dialogue together, and find ways to make sure that all of these actors who are so deeply associated with this specific set of characters that they’ve played, not just felt their character were respected, but dug into who they are now,” said Trevorrow.
Additionally, Trevorrow went on to explain what it was like to watch this classic trio act onscreen together for the first time since Jurassic Park hit theaters in 1993.
“It is a true ensemble of all of these people,” added Trevorrow. “Even if they may not be side by side the whole time. There is just something really exhilarating, just from a generational standpoint. To be able to put all of these characters into a situation where they are again having to not just survive together, but make sure that we all don’t go extinct just like the dinosaurs.”
Jurassic World: Dominion opens on June 10, 2022.
