There has been a lot of speculation about the villains in Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 since the announcement of the sequel. The post-credits scene from the movie and the spin-off series suggest certain characters appearing in the sequel. However, Reeves has hinted that the sequel will feature a villain that has never been showcased in any live-action movie or show.
Villains could be The Batman 2’s ‘never been done before’ big bad
Matt Reeves has confirmed that The Batman 2 will be shooting sometime in the summer of 2026. During his interview with Josh Horowitz, he also hinted that the movie digs deep into Bruce Wayne’s past, bringing forth a villain that’s “never really been done in a movie before.” While he refrained from confirming who the villain is, fans have taken the opportunity to speculate who the villain will be.

Hush
Hush, aka Thomas “Tommy” Elliot, grew up in an abusive family and wanted to kill his parents. However, Thomas Wayne saved his mom and has since held a grudge against the Wayne family. Discovering that Bruce is Batman, he teams up with Riddle to destroy Bruce’s life. He wraps his face with a bandage and carries two pistols as weapons. Since The Riddler has already made his appearance in the first movie, this could be a great opportunity to showcase Hush.
The Court of Owls
It is a secret criminal organization in Gotham City. The Court consists of Gotham’s oldest and wealthiest families, who have secretly controlled the city for centuries. In their time, they’ve hired many deadly assassins called Talons, who do their bidding.
Hugo Strange
Hugo Strange is one of the smartest villains Batman has faced. He’s a criminal mastermind who was one of the first to discover Batman’s secret identity. He has a deep obsession with Batman and has created an army of monsters called “Monster Men” to deal with him. He could be a great villain for Batman 2 since the first movie also delved a lot into mind games with the Riddler.
Man-Bat
Man-Bat, aka Dr. Robert Kirkland “Kirk” Langstrom, is a zoologist who developed a serum to give humans a bat’s sonar abilities. However, when he tested it on himself, he transformed into a giant, bat-like creature.
Professor Pyg
Professor Pyg, whose real name is Lazlo Valentin, is a scientist who suffers from schizophrenia. Due to his delusions, he wears a pig mask. He is obsessed with perfecting people by kidnapping them and surgically transforming them into mind-controlled dolls called Dollotrons.
