Batman fans have received a positive update regarding The Batman Part II. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has shared that Matt Reeves is “working very hard” on the much-awaited sequel. He also talked about James Gunn‘s Man of Tomorrow.
The update comes as DC Studios moves ahead with several new movies and TV shows. Zaslav’s comments show the studio remains confident about its upcoming projects.
David Zaslav reaffirms his faith in James Gunn’s DC vision
While sharing the new update on DC’s upcoming slate, David Zaslav praised James Gunn’s work on Man of Tomorrow, which is in production. He added that Matt Reeves is also making steady progress on The Batman Part II.
As quoted by The Wrap, Zaslav said, “On the DC side, James is focused on ‘Man of Tomorrow.’ I saw some pictures yesterday that looked amazing. Actually, yesterday was James’ birthday, and he’s out working. He’s working 16 to 18 hours a day. It looks fantastic. We’re super excited about it. Matt Reeves, I spoke to over the weekend, and he’s working very hard on Batman.”
His comments came after the latest Supergirl bombed at the global box office. Instead of discussing that movie, Zaslav looked ahead to DC’s upcoming slate.
Man of Tomorrow will be the next DC movie directed by Gunn. It is slated for release in July 2027. It continues the new DC Universe led by Gunn and Peter Safran.
The Batman Part II is one of the DC Elseworlds projects that is not under the DC Universe of Gunn and Peter Safran. The sequel will once again be directed by Matt Reeves, who directed Robert Pattinson-led The Batman. The sequel has been postponed recently and is slated to be released in February 2028.
The next big DC projects will include Lanterns, an HBO show starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. Next on the slate is Clayface, a movie directed by James Watkins and based on a screenplay by Mike Flanagan.
