Yes, Marge did die, not in the present timeline but in a future setting in The Simpsons Season 36 finale. This means that she is alive in the present day.

The episode features a flash-forward scene that spotlights Marge’s funeral scene. The montage shows mourners surrounding her grave and paying their last respects. Her tombstone read, “Beloved wife, mother and pork-chop seasoner.” It remains unclear what led to her shocking death.

Soon, Lisa opens a letter, written by her mother, which she had asked only to be opened after her passing. In it, she jokingly says that she is unlikely to die before Homer. Moreover, she also urged the children to stay connected.

Viewers get to see the remaining family members’ lives 35 years into the future. It showcases Lisa’s return to Springfield to reconnect with Bart and Homer. Upon her arrival, she learns that Homer has been sent to Florida by Springfield’s Senior Protective Services. Over the years, Lisa and Bart had grown apart. However, the siblings join forces to find Homer, bringing joy to their mother, who watches over them from the afterlife.

Although the episode doesn’t address the circumstances behind her death, it does showcase her afterlife. In it, she is seen joyfully resting in heaven and has reunited with her high school crush, Ringo Starr.
