The 7 Best James Bond Gadgets

#7 THE ASTON MARTIN DB5

The car is equipped with bullet proof glass all around the cab. Machine guns are hidden behind the sidelights on the front of the car and below them is the hydraulic bumper that could be used for a battering ram. The back of the car contained an oil set and smokescreen emitter. Two different gadgets were equipped to ruin the tires of Bond’s pursuers, a hidden pipe in the rear would unleash pronged calthrops and a tire slasher was built into the rear wheels of the car. All these defenses could be accessed from the center console of the car, but the thing that everyone remembers is the ejector seat. The top of the gear shift opened up to reveal the first little red button in a film – one push launched the passenger out of the car.

As a bonus, here’s another of my favorite gadgets from the Bond films: In each movie Q was never too far away from Bond to stock him full of equipment and the movie where he moved the furthest was The Spy Who Loved Me. Q set up shop in a pyramid and inside he was testing what is probably my favorite silly gadget, the magnetic-decapitating-tea set. You can see it in action by clicking here.

What do you think? What are your favorite Bond gadgets?
