Fans Want Gina Carano’s Cara Dune To Return in Star Wars

Gina Carano is once again making headlines, as a wave of online support has reignited calls for her return to The Mandalorian. Fans show support for Gina Carano, want Cara Dune to return

Following the settlement between Gina Carano and Disney over her firing from The Mandalorian, many fans on X (formerly Twitter) have publicly voiced support for the actress and her character, Cara Dune.

One user wrote, “Absolutely and immediately,” while another commented, “Yes. But they need to make it right with her. She did nothing wrong. What happened to her was completely unfair.”

Some users expressed interest in seeing Carano lead her own Star Wars series. One wrote, “I want her to get her own series that was planned and then taken from her,” while another added, “I wanna see her have her own show.” Another user noted her absence in Season 3, writing, “She was missed in Season 3. Maybe we’ll get lucky and see her in Mando/Grogu.”

On August 7, Lucasfilm and Disney announced they had resolved their legal dispute with Carano. In a statement to Variety, a Lucasfilm spokesperson said, “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff… we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

Carano was fired in 2021 for social media posts, one of which compared political conservatives to Jews during the Holocaust. She later filed a federal lawsuit in 2024 for wrongful termination and political discrimination, seeking at least $75,000 in damages and reinstatement in The Mandalorian. Elon Musk funded her legal costs.

In response to Disney’s defense under the First Amendment, Carano posted, “Disney has confirmed what has been known all along, they will fire you if you say anything they disagree with… The First Amendment does not allow Disney to wantonly DISCRIMINATE, which is what they have done in my case.”
