Previously known for starring as Carmen Cortez in Robert Rodriguez's original Spy Kids trilogy (she also reprised the role for an appearance in the recent Spy Kids: All the Time in the World), Alexa Vega made headlines last month after releasing an image of her decidedly more adult role in the director's upcoming Machete Kills. Today, The Hollywood Reporter spoke with the star and got a bit more information about her role in the film as KillJoy.
"The first time I walked out in my outfit on set," Vega says, "everyone was like, 'Wow, you're not allowed to wear that!'"
Her character said to be "the bodyguard of a whore house," Vega joins Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Zoe Saldana, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga and Vanessa Hudgens in the 20th Century Fox film.
In the sequel, ex-federale Machete (Trejo) is recruited by the U.S. government to stop an arms dealer (Gibson) from launching a deadly missile.
