Jackson Rathbone Joining No Ordinary Family

August 27, 2010

Has landed a potentially recurring role

Entertainment Weekly reports that Jackson Rathbone ("The Twilight Saga," The Last Airbender) has landed a potentially recurring role on ABC's "No Ordinary Family." Rathbone will play Trent Stafford, a high school classmate of Kay Panabaker telepathic Daphne Powell. Trent was recently the victim of a home invasion robbery.

In the show, premiering Tuesday, Sep. 28, The Powells are about to go from ordinary to extraordinary. After 16 years of marriage, Jim and Stephanie's relationship lacks the spark it once had, and their family life now consists of balancing work and their two children, leaving little time for family bonding. During a family vacation set up by Jim in an attempt to reconnect, their plane crashes into the Amazon River. But this is where the fun starts for the Powells, as they soon discover that something's not quite right. Each of them now possesses unique and distinct superpowers. But saving and savoring their family life will be equally important, as they try to find purpose for their new powers and embark on a journey to find out what defines and unifies them. The Powells are a totally relatable family who happen to be a little bit amazing.

Michael Chiklis ("The Shield") also stars as Jim Powell, Julie Benz ("Dexter") as Stephanie Powell, Romany Malco (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) as George St. Cloud, Tate Donovan ("Damages") as Mitch McCutcheon, Autumn Reeser as Katie Andrews, Christina Chang as Yvonne Cho and Jimmy Bennett as JJ Powell.

This show reminds me of the first (and best) year of Heroes - ordinary people discovering they have extraordinary powers and how to adapt to them. Hope after the "discovery" part, the plots will continue to be creative and not suffer the same fate of Heroes' derivitive plots.

I watched the Pilot, it was actually half-way decent. Considering it still suffered from Pilot-itis, it looks like it might grow into a good show.

The pilot was pretty wank.
It's a shame, I don't think they will make another show about super's as good as heroes season 1 was.

If you watch Dexter you'd know why she was free to do this show.

Bored now...
I loved season 1 of heroes but this show seems like a weak incredibles rip off. Which was a great fantastic four ripoff. I worry that if they keep throwing weak ideas like this and the cape onto networks and they keep failing then we will never see stuff we should like other marvel & dc properties.

Sounds like the plot of "The Incredibles". And Rita, Dexters wife was murdered by The Trinity Killer in season 4's finale. And on the subject of Fantastic Four, it was actually created in response to the Justice League.
