Alice Eve in Talks to Play the X-Men's Emma Frost

June 28, 2010

But is she out of Charles Xavier's league?

Deadline New York's Mike Fleming is reporting that Alice Eve, the British actress who first appeared on the scene opposite James McAvoy in Starter for 10 and recently appeared in the romantic comedy She's Out of My League and in Sex and the City 2, is in talks to play the role of Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.  Eve certainly has all the right elements for her to play Frost, already having a British accent and certain other attributes that were featured quite prominently in the "Sex and the City" movie.  If she takes the role, it will reunite her with McAvoy, who has already been cast as Charles Xavier in the Marvel mutant prequel.

Frost was introduced in "Uncanny X-Men" #129 in 1980, created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne as The White Queen, a prominent member of the Hellfire Club, a group of wealthy mutants who used their power and powers to confound the X-Men, playing a key role in "The Dark Phoenix Saga." Later, Frost formed her own school for mutants, and her own team called the Hellions, before finally being brought into the X-Men fold by Charles Xavier (and writer Grant Morrison) and becoming  a key member of the group for the past few years. A younger version of the character appeared briefly in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Tahyna Tozzi.

X-Men: First Class is currently slated for a release on June 3, 2011.

Unless the shooting time element is too short, this film is shaping up to be a pure ace. Fine director, great cast and a story that almost writes itself. My gut tells me this film is going to blow Batman Begins and any other reboot/prequel origin story right out of the water.

Most accomplished actors are however. Certainly with regards comic-book adaptations.

So, I don't get it. Are they pretending that Wolverine didn't happen? All these characters ages are mixed up.

@Bene.

I don't have a problem with Eve being British but the author seems to think Emma Frost has a British accent..

She's British on the cartoon. Maybe marvel revised her history if she wasn't British originally.

@Bob: lol, you aren't serious, are you? Hope not.

So there was a comic about first class that undead the fact there were only 5 students originally?

For crying out loud, just do a movie about the Original X-Men! Done right, that'd be pretty cool but I'm not even sure what this is about. Emma Frost was re-conned back tot he original or is First Class something totally different?

Makes me glad I quit reading comics, actually.
