Fortnite’s Star Wars Event Features Deleted Dialogue From The Rise of Skywalker

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!

Over the past month, Star Wars has taken over Fortnite. It began with a Stormtrooper skin that was made available to players of the game. Now, even more characters and items are available following an exclusive clip premiere within Fortnite. Apparently that clip was even more important than we originally thought.

Polygon recently reported that an opening crawl reference from The Rise of Skywalker is included within FortniteIn the film’s opening crawl, it states that: “The dead speak! The galaxy has heard a mysterious broadcast, a threat of REVENGE in the sinister voice of the late EMPEROR PALPATINE.”

The Emperor’s broadcast isn’t actually in the film, but apparently it is in Fortnite, based on the clip below.

It’s likely that director J.J. Abrams recorded the dialogue with actor Ian McDiarmid, but then realized there wasn’t a way to properly fit it into The Rise of SkywalkerNeither Disney nor Epic has confirmed this yet..

Fortnite’s Star Wars event is happening now, and The Rise of Skywalker is also in theaters today.
