New details about the Eyes of Wakanda MCU show have been revealed.
Marvel Television’s Eyes of Wakanda is an animated series created by Todd Harris that will arrive on Disney+ this coming August. The anthology show has four episodes in total, each of which takes place at a different time in Wakanda’s history.
What is the new Eyes of Wakanda update?
Per Variety, Eyes of Wakanda recently premiered its first episode at a panel at the Annecy Animation Festival. Harris was present at the event.
“The episode, the first of four in the series, is set in 1260 B.C., and turns on a Wakandan secret agent, a disgraced former Dora Milaje named Noni (played by Winnie Harlow), as she pursues a man by the moniker of ‘Lion’ (Cress Williams),” Variety’s description of the plot reads. “Lion has defected from the Wakandan guard in order to run a band of pirates, and has stolen technology from Wakanda in order to found his own kingdom. Noni finds him in Crete, where Lion’s crew of pirates, assembled from fighters from around the world, are currently pillaging and enslaving a town.
“…There are other familiar touches, such as recollections of Ryan Coogler’s original Black Panther in the dialogue and the visual design, but Harris notes that it was ‘never my goal to make another one, my goal was to make something new.’”
Harris teased, “There will be an Iron Fist in here, and not the Iron Fist you expect.”
The voice cast further includes Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Coleman, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint, and Anika Noni Rose.
Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on August 6, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. Both of the Marvel Studios Black Panther movies, meanwhile, are currently available to watch on the streaming platform.
