A new Marvel Disney+ show could retcon some previous events that happened in the MCU.
Marvel Television has a number of upcoming shows that are expected to arrive on Disney+ in the near future. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, for example, premieres on the streaming service next month, while VisionQuest and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 are both expected to premiere at some point in 2026.
What Marvel Disney+ show could retcon key MCU events?
According to scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, Marvel is interested in developing a show about the Ten Rings organization that would be similar in tone to the 2025 Eyes of Wakanda series.
Should this project move forward, it could play around with and potentially retcon some events that have already happened in the MCU.
“Marvel Studios is interested in developing a Ten Rings project similar to Eyes of Wakanda,” Perez said. “From an idea that I heard, though, different from how Eyes of Wakanda was executed, they want to show how the organization has gone on through the ages and has influenced the events of the MCU from the very beginning. It would have had the organization interact with characters throughout history, including the Eternals, The Red Room, WW2, and modern MCU events.
The Ten Rings is a criminal organization that was most notably featured in 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Iron Man 3 notably saw Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian and AIM imitate the Ten Rings, with Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery portraying the Mandarin in some propaganda videos. The real Ten Rings, however, has been around for centuries, as it was founded by the immortal warlord Xu Wenwu, played by Tony Leung. Following the events of Shang-Chi, Xu Wenwu sacrifices himself, with Meng’er Zhang’s Xu Xialing then taking over the organization.
This is only a rumor at this time, meaning the news should be taken with a grain of salt, as Marvel Studios has not announced that a Ten Rings show is in development at this time.
