Arrow Promotes Joseph David-Jones To Series Regular For Final Season

While the upcoming eighth and final season of Arrow will be shortened, it’s not giving up on the future. Joseph David-Jones appeared throughout the seventh season during the flash forward sequences. Now, David-Jones has been upped to a series regular for his last season on the show.

Deadline broke the story about David-Jones’ promotion. He made his Arrowverse debut in the first season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as Connor Hawke, the son of John Diggle and Lyla Diggle. In the comics, Connor was the second Green Arrow following the death of Oliver Queen. However, that was wiped away by the New 52 reboot in 2011. The most recent season of Arrow revealed that Connor is actually the son of Benjamin Turner, a.k.a. Bronze Tiger. At some point beyond season 7, the Diggles will adopt Connor and raise him alongside their other son.

David-Jones’ Connor was reintroduced alongside Katherine McNamara’s Mia Smoak, the daughter of Oliver and Felicity Queen. In 2039, Connor and Mia were recruited by Mia’s half-brother, William Clayton (Ben Lewis) to save Felicity and Star City. That story played out during the flash forwards throughout the seventh season. It was also revealed that Connor’s adoptive brother, John Diggle Jr., is the leader of the Deathstroke gang. Perhaps that will be fleshed out in the final season.
