Shocking MCU Hero Return Reportedly Set for Avengers: Doomsday

With Avengers: Doomsday reshoots reportedly set to begin next month, new returning Marvel Cinematic Universe stars have slowly been revealed, and the latest is none other than Tatiana Maslany.

Maslany has not been seen in the MCU since the conclusion of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in October 2022. The Disney+ series stars the actor as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, who struggles to balance being a lawyer and a superhero.

Marvel fans expected Maslany’s She-Hulk to be one of the major new faces of the MCU; however, she has yet to make her return after four years in any medium. Even Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, who hasn’t been seen in live-action since 2021, appeared in animated projects like What If…? and Marvel Zombies.

For a while, it seemed like She-Hulk might go the way of The Incredible Hulk characters, existing in the background of the MCU while never actually appearing on screen until years later, when Marvel finally figures out what to do with them.

Many believe She-Hulk’s exclusion from the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement had to do with Maslany’s lack of interest in working with Disney again. This rumor only strengthened after she called for a boycott of the company after it suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! last September.

However, Maslany seemingly debunked those rumors during an appearance on the Comedy Comedy Bang Bang podcast, sarcastically deadpanning that she had quit the MCU.

“Disney has approached me to play She-Hulk again. Guys, I said no. Okay. Because I just did. This is the facts. They’re out there. You can read the articles about it. I was really mad at them for letting me sue them. For kicking me out the movie. I was just mad, in general. Woke feminist stuff…I was like, ‘How dare you cast a woman in this role [of She-Hulk]? That’s disgusting. I’m embarrassed to even be here,” she said on the podcast.

Avengers: Doomsday will feature She-Hulk despite Tatiana Maslany’s past issues with Disney

Now, according to entertainment journalist Michael Roman on his YouTube channel Everything Always, Maslany will be part of Sam Wilson’s new Avengers team in Doomsday.

Maslany becomes the fourth actor this week to be confirmed to be returning for Avengers: Doomsday. Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Elizabeth Olsen’s respective returns as Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Scarlet Witch were reported by MAJESTIC_ucm back on March 9.

Avengers: Doomsday takes place 14 months after the events of Thunderbolts*. Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay for Doomsday, with Joe and Anthony Russo returning as directors. Robert Downey Jr. leads the large returning ensemble for Doomsday as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
