What Happens to Bix Caleen After Andor? Fate Explained

Now that the dust has settled, let’s explore what happens to Bix Caleen after the Andor finale. At the end of the second season, she is seen in a field of wheat holding a baby, which has been confirmed by showrunner Tony Gilroy as the child between her and Cassian Andor. Since the finale aired, the cast and crew, including actress Adria Arjona, have shared their thoughts on the fate of Bix and her baby. And there have been rumors swirling about how she might factor in the future of Star Wars.

What do we know about Bix and her baby after Andor Season 2?

While we know precious little about Bix and her baby after Andor, it is expected that she will raise her and Cassian’s child on Mina-Rau, learn about the fate of Cassian from Rogue One, and make an appearance in future Star Wars projects if recent rumors are true.

Star Wars insider Daniel Richtman reports that Lucasfilm has plans for Bix Caleen to appear in other movies and TV shows in the franchise. That said, this remains a rumor at the time of writing, and neither LucasFilm nor Disney has confirmed this. It’s also unclear whether this refers to Adria Arjona returning in a live-action series or if she’s merely lending her voice to Bix in an animated show. Maybe both. (So as far as taking this rumor with a grain of salt, how about a whole pillar of it?)

Before talking about what will happen to Bix, let’s go over some of what we have learned about her and her child thus far. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gilroy believes that Bix was indeed pregnant when she made the heartbreaking decision to leave Cassian to ensure that he stayed with the rebellion and didn’t quit just to be with her. Some have criticized Bix for not talking to him about her being pregnant and not giving him a choice in the matter, but much of the show is about the sacrifices, as cruel as they may be, that the rebels need to make for the greater good. Even a year after she leaves for Mina-Rau and during the events of Rogue One, Cassian has no idea that he is a father, despite this fact being something that Vel likely knows about.

Gilroy has also stated in a CinemaBlend interview that Bix’s child is unnamed and has not been identified. Adria has a hypothetical answer to the child’s name that she can’t talk about. Some fan theories believe that Resistance pilot Poe Dameron from the sequel trilogy is Bix and Cassian’s son, but unless the lore is retconned in some way, this would be very unlikely.

At first glance, it’s surprising that Bix would settle on Mina-Rau in the first place given that this was where she, along with Cassian, Wilmon, and Brasso, was caught by the Empire (to Brasso’s untimely end). In fact, given the campgrounds and the appearance of B2EMO in the final shots of the show, she’s in the same exact town that they were in before. For security reasons, Bix would likely need an actual visa this time around or perhaps a different or altered cover story than her being a mechanic. Apart from that, Mina-Rau does look like a good community to raise a baby. (For clarity, since I was confused about this too, Kellen’s family did not sell the rebels out as Brasso claimed. He told that story in front of Imperial authorities to shield the family from scrutiny.)

One of the main things that would happen to Bix in the immediate future is her being told about Cassian’s noble sacrifice at the end of Rogue One. (Not sure if the report should include him embracing Jyn Erso in his final moments, but I digress.) The most likely person to tell her would be Vel given their shared history. She would likely feel quite a bit of guilt upon learning about his death given that she was hopeful about reconnecting with him once the war was over.

At that point, Bix would have to make the tough choice of staying on Mina-Rau to raise their child as a single mother or rejoining the resistance to give her child the best chance at a future free from the Empire. Winning the war is one of her defining goals, and she is more than capable of being an infiltrator and assassin from what she did to Dr. Gorst in an Imperial facility in Coruscant.

While the events of Star Wars IV take place within a few weeks after Rogue One, the fight still isn’t over, so it’s plausible that she would reconnect with Vel, Wilmon, and Kleya (there aren’t many left from Luthen’s spy network) to go on clandestine missions for the resistance. That’s something I would watch as an “Andor Season 3” if there ever was one.
