At long last, Fortnite players will be able to show off their tactical skills as one of the Joes. The game’s developers have just revealed that Snake Eyes is the latest pop culture staple to join its ranks as a playable character, making him the first G.I. Joe hero to do so. Snake Eyes’ arrival comes as part of The Zero Point, an ongoing plot thread in Fortnite’s Chapter 2, Season 5. The title refers to the object of the same name, which has popped up on several occasions throughout the game’s history and is assumed to be a bridge to other realities. In this particular storyline, Agent Jonesy allies himself with familiar characters from a variety of other dimensions. A few other recent additions include The Terminator and Sarah Connor, The Mandalorian and Grogu/Baby Yoda, Halo’s Master Chief, and God of War’s Kratos.
Technically, gamers shouldn’t be surprised to see Snake Eyes showing up in Fortnite. Last week, Epic Games CCO Donald Mustard Tweeted a picture of himself reading an old G.I. Joe comic book. Although the art was hard to make out, Polygon noted that the issue in question, Marvel’s G.I. Joe #21, revolves around Snake Eyes’ attempt to help Scarlett escape from Storm Shadow’s Cobra compound.

If that’s not enough, Hasbro is also gearing up to release a new Fortnite-inspired Snake Eyes action figure. According to the description, the six-inch figure has over 20 points of articulation and comes with a wide range of weapon accessories, including a Harpoon Launcher, Boogie Bomb, and more. Additionally, this marks the first time that a Snake Eyes figure has featured the famous G.I. Joe logo on the character’s shoulders. More info can be found here.
