Netflix has released to its social platforms a new and intriguing promo for the upcoming The Witcher series. In the short video, Henry Cavill reads aloud an extract from The Last Wish, the first book of many focused on Geralt of Rivia’s series of adventures. The actor seems pretty comfortable while skimming through the pages, and he eventually ends the reading with a sarcastic remark.
“It’s not easy being a witcher,” Cavill concludes. “Trust me, I know. You’d think people would be a little more grateful when you save them from monsters.”

Also starring alongside Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia and Chalotra’s Yennefer are 17-year-old Freya Allan as Ciri, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Mimi Ndiweni as fledgling sorceress Fringilla, Sabrina as Therica Wilson-Read, Millie Brady as outcast Princess Renfri, Adam Levy as the druid Mousesack, as well as Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Queen Calanthe’s husband, the knight Eist, and MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, head of the magical academy.
Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Schmidt Hissrich will serve as executive producer and showrunner for The Witcher. Sean Daniel is set to executive produce under the Sean Daniel Company together with his partner Jason Brown. Additionally, Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Image will executive produce as well.
The Witcher will be available on Netflix starting Friday, December 20. Would you like to see a The Witcher audiobook series read by Henry Cavill? Cast your spells in the comment section below!
