The forthcoming Harley Quinn animated series on DC Universe’s streaming service has a new entry in its cast. During the American Black Film Festival, actress Sanaa Lathan announced she will give her voice to Catwoman, as reported by Blackfilm. The actress didn’t give away any further details, as the streaming service has been keeping information leaks about the project to a minimum.
Lathan’s no stranger to voice-over roles. Previously, she worked on Fox’s The Cleveland Show and Family Guy, dubbing the character Donna Tubbs. She’s hardly new to the world of comic book adaptations either. Back in 1998, she played the titular character’s mother in the Wesley Snipes film Blade.
The alter-ego of Selina Kyle is just one of the many characters that Harley Quinn will meet during her quest to join the Legion of the Doom. It will be interesting to see when Harley and Catwoman will meet, and how their relationship will develop.
DC’s animated series follows Harley’s adventures after her break up with the Joker, and will see Kaley Cuoco voicing the titular character. Joining Lathan on Harley Quinn are the voices of Lake Bell (Poison Ivy), Alan Tudyk (Joker), and Diedrich Bader (Batman). The series will also feature Wanda Sykes, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, and Jim Rash, whose roles are still undisclosed at the moment.
Harley Quinn will premiere in fall 2019 on DC Universe. How do you think Sanaa Lathan will fare as Catwoman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
