Swamp Thing Lives! See an Animation Test for Live-Action Justice League Dark Movie

See a Swamp Thing animation fest for a live-action Justice League Dark movie

Fresh off of yesterday’s featurette for the upcoming Justice League Dark animated film comes an interesting “What might have been” for the previously talked about live-action version of the film.

Director Joseph Kahn (Torque, Detention, Power/Rangers) revealed online that he previously pitched on the film and offered a sneak peek at an animation test he had created to show Swamp Thing in action, which you can check out below.

It’s also worth noting that Kahn mentions he pitched his take on the material to Warner Bros. “before it became an animated movie.” Though unconfirmed, it would seem that the live-action Justice League Dark is as dead as Boston Brand and lives only in the upcoming animated film.

Fan-favorite director Guillermo del Toro fanned the flames of the project for a long time despite no official announcement about the project ever being made. Rumors previously pointed toward Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman, as playing Swamp Thing, with Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor reportedly in the mix for John Constantine, and another rumor also gained traction saying Rogue One: A Star Wars Story villain Ben Mendelsohn was being eyed for the film’s primary villain, Anton Arcane.

The Justice League Dark made their debut when DC Comics began The New 52 publishing initiative in 2011. A paranormal-leaning super team, the group featured the likes of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Frankenstein, Deadman, Madame Xanadu, and The Phantom Stranger among its ranks.
