The Creation of Daredevil Depicted in New Season 2 Banner

Daredevil Season 2 banner gets biblical

Following the Season 2 teaser that debuted earlier this week, Marvel and Netflix have released a new banner for Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 which you can click below to see a bigger version.

Though the banner features no new images from the upcoming second season, it is a near-perfect recreation of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling (as painted by Michelangelo, not the Ninja Turtle) right down to the famous “Creation of Adam” in the fourth spot of the center with a young Matt Murdock reaching out to his father after his accident. Even the placement of the main characters and key props from the series mirror the placement of the twelve prophets in the original painting. It should also be noted that Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgment” (also present in the Sistine Chapel) was the basis for the season two poster released earlier this week. You can compare and contrast both posters with their counterparts below!

Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios. Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.

Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 will feature the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (who moonlights as The Man Without Fear), Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Scott Glenn as Stick and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. The new season will also see Jon Bernthal debut as Frank Castle (aka the Punisher) with Elodie Yung also set to appear, playing the deadly assassin Elektra Natchios.

Marvel’s Daredevil is Executive Produced by Doug Petrie (American Horror StoryBuffy The Vampire Slayer), Marco Ramirez (DaVinci’s Demons) and Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the WoodsLost), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Marvel’s Jessica Jones.) It is is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios.

Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 will debut in full on Netflix on March 18.
