A new Resident Evil poster captures a nightmarish still from the official trailer. The movie is adapted from the famous survival horror game by the director of Weapons and Barbarian. The terrifying poster offers audiences a glimpse into a world of zombie gore.
The poster was shared online ahead of the movie’s theatrical release. It shows an unsettling scene of a dark doorway to the house in the trailer. From the door, several limbs emerge, seemingly as an attempt to break through.
Resident Evil is no stranger to gore and horror, and neither is Zach Cregger. Helmed by the Weapons’ director, the movie follows Bryan, a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night descends into chaos around him.
Resident Evil marks Zach Cregger’s return to feature horror
Zach Creggar’s work as a director did not begin in the horror genre. Some of the director’s first works included slapstick comedies and satires. These included Miss March, The Civil War on Drugs, and The Whitest Kids U’Know.
However, he shifted to the horror genre, with some works that were instantly critically acclaimed, with over 90% scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Unlike works that rely on supernatural horror elements like demons or ghosts, Creggar’s usual works feature grounded, unsettling forms of horror.
For instance, Barbarian, Weapons, and Companion bring out tensions from absurd situations and disturbing human behavior. The basic premise of Resident Evil matches its tone, since the lurking “evil” in its upcoming movie is basically mutated monsters and zombies resulting from bioterrorism.
Resident Evil will mark Zach Cregger’s return to the horror genre, as this will be his third movie. The movie stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser. Creggar wrote the movie with Shay Hatten. The director also serves as the producer alongside Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Victor Hadida, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan.
The movie will be out in theaters on September 18, 2026.
