The latest Willy Wonka movie with a massive twist finally has a release date. Kate Winslet and others have joined the cast of Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory.
The new movie will be a fresh Willy Wonka narrative, one fans will experience for the very first time. With some significant hype around Netflix’s latest animated movie, the release date has recently been confirmed. According to Tudum by Netflix, the movie is scheduled for a November 5, 2027, release. The digital premiere for the same has also been confirmed. Viewers can catch Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory on Netflix from December 22, 2027, onwards.
The movie has gotten a star-studded cast update. Alongside Winslet, Harry Potter-famous Helena Bonham Carter has joined the movie. Carter’s acting was critically acclaimed as she portrayed Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter.
The new adaptation stars Taika Waititi as the eccentric chocolatier
Taika Waititi, who plays Willy Wonka, will be the major star of the movie. The plot will explore his adventures following his return from behind bars. The synopsis of the movie reads, “Willy Wonka (Waititi) has spent the years since the Golden Ticket contest behind bars (not the chocolate kind) for the crime of turning a child into a blueberry. Having served his time, Wonka returns to his factory determined to add a little sweetness to a bitter world. But one thing stands in his way: teenager Charlie Paley (Connor) and his friends. Facing eviction, this next generation of “rotten” kids plot to break into the factory, nab a priceless Wonka Bar, and save their homes. But like many before them who enter the fantastical world of the factory, these kids are in for a bit more than they can chew…”
Apart from Waititi, Winslet, and Carter, the cast also features Kit Connor, Christopher Chung, Nicola Coughlan, Samson Kayo, and Charithra Chandran as guests. The movie is directed by Jared Stern and is produced by Timothy Yoo and Aron Warner.
