X-Men Reboot Rumor Reunites Mutants Fans Have Wanted Back for Years

A new X-Men rumor suggests Marvel Studios will follow fan requests to unite several mutant characters previously not seen together. It also appears the X-Men reboot will retain a key element from the original X-Men. The upcoming film is rumored to feature a core team comprised of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Rogue, Angel, and Iceman.

The scoop is coming from James Mack, who also claims that Rogue will be one of the students at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Rogue, according to the scooper, will not be a part of the X-Men team, but “she will still have an important role in the movie, the team, and the story.”

That sounds eerily similar to Rogue’s role in the first X-Men film, where she was a key part of Magneto’s plan and was the primary link between Wolverine and the X-Men. The rumored team will also stand apart from the ones featured in previous X-Men films. This is just a rumor and should be treated as such, as Marvel Studios has not commented on it.

Marvel’s X-Men reboot has already confirmed several key mutant roles

At the time of writing, Marvel Studios has officially cast three characters in X-Men. Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey, first introduced in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Following that, the studio recently added Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Kit Connor as Scott Summers, aka Cyclops.

Several rumors have pointed to other mutants like Beast, Charles Xavier, Magneto, and even X-23 in the film. However, it remains to be seen which other mutants show up.

The X-Men reboot will kick off the MCU’s Mutant Saga, which has been slowly teased over the years. The MCU’s first officially revealed mutant was Kamala Khan, followed by Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

X-Men is expected to be released following 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, and will start filming next year. Some fans expect Marvel to reveal its cast at D23 this year officially.
