Charles Melton’s Beast Casting Isn’t as Locked in as X-Men Fans Thought

Charles Melton‘s role as Beast in the X-Men Reboot has not been signed yet. Moreover, there are many more roles in the movie that have not yet been locked in. According to an insider, the official cast details were supposed to be disclosed at the D23 2026 event.

Insider account Cosmic Marvel took to X to report, “Charles Melton has reportedly passed on the role of Beast in the ‘X-MEN’ reboot film. The full cast was initially expected to be announced at D23, but that may no longer happen,” citing the industry insider Daniel Richtman.

However, the insider reported that this information was shared privately with a few people, and someone in that circle spread it like a “wildfire.”

The scoop specialist also wrote, “Okay, I understand now how the Melton thing got out. But there’s a reason I haven’t said it publicly and only in private. It’s not 100%. As for D23 they’re not all locked in yet, not just Melton, Spaeny too. They still have time so we’ll see.”

The X-Men reboot still has casting decisions to finalize

Around July 31 this year, the rumor of Charles Melton being cast as Hank McCoy/Beast came around. Although it was previously assumed that his role was set, industry insiders now suggest otherwise. Moreover, they stated that Cailee Spaeny, who was reportedly cast as Rogue, has not yet signed the deal.

That said, these are all rumors and should be treated as such until an official announcement by Marvel or Disney is out. Moreover, the director of the X-Men movie previously confirmed that the rumors online do not come from the writers’ room.

Additionally, Marvel Studios is actively developing the movie. This means that while some casting details are confirmed, other cast details and final roster decisions remain open.

While Marvel’s latest release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day confirmed that Sadie Sink would play Jean Grey, it was also reported that Kit Connor was selected for the role of Cyclops. Moreover, Samara Weaving was cast as Emma Frost in the reboot.

The roles of other iconic X-Men characters and core members like Professor X, Magneto, Storm, Wolverine, and Rogue are unconfirmed. However, there are rumors that suggest Adam Driver, Christopher Abbott, Tom Pelphrey, Bill Skarsgård, Will Poulter, Harris Dickinson, Dafne Keen, Jayme Lawson, and Indé Navarrete could be part of the ensemble.
