Marvel’s mutant casting shuffle has taken another turn, with one young actor now linked to a different role after missing out on the team’s leadership position. If the rumors are anything to go by, the actor could bring a very different flavor to the studio’s developing X-Men lineup.
Asa Germann rumored for Angel in Marvel’s X-Men reboot
The actor reportedly being considered for Angel is Asa Germann, best known for playing Sam Riordan in Prime Video’s Gen V. The rumor follows reports that Germann tested for Cyclops before Marvel chose Kit Connor as Scott Summers. The Hollywood Reporter‘s Heat Vision newsletter confirmed Germann’s Cyclops audition while noting Marvel had not commented on whether he could land another role.
That possibility has sent fans into overdrive. Reactions shared online include, “He has a very intimidating facial expression,” while another fan praised the apparent comic-book direction, writing, “they actually are casting it with comic book accuracy. Amazing.” A third fan summed up the crossover appeal wriring “The Boys x Marvel boutta go insane.”
Angel, whose real name is Warren Worthington III, would also give Germann a chance to show off a different kind of superhero character. The mutant traditionally possesses large wings and the ability to fly, later becoming the more formidable Archangel. The role would therefore offer a physical transformation as well.
For those not in the know, Germann has been part of multiple superhero and horror projects. He broke out as Sam in Gen V, then reprised that character in The Boys. He also appeared in Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and the short films Two Little Boys and Caviar. In 2026, he expanded his film work with Scream 7, playing Lucas Bowden. IMDb lists Gen V at 7.6/10.
The MCU’s X-Men reboot already has Kit Connor as Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, with Jake Schreier directing and Kevin Feige producing. None of that, however, makes the Angel report official.
