Marvel may announce its official X-Men cast later this week. According to a new report, the update could reveal more details about the studio’s upcoming mutant team and its place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is considering Heartstopper and Warfare star Kit Connor for Scott Summers (also known as Cyclops). Sources told the portal that Connor is in active talks for the role.
It’s possible that the announcement will take place at D23, where Marvel could present more information about its next X-Men movie. The project will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously worked on Thunderbolts.
Marvel’s confirmed X-Men cast already includes Sadie Sink and Kit Connor
Sadie Sink has joined the MCU as Jean Grey. Her casting was revealed through Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where she appeared as the young mutant. Marvel is expected to continue her story in the upcoming X-Men project.
If the casting goes through, Connor would star as Cyclops alongside Sink’s Jean Grey. Cyclops has been a central character in earlier X-Men films. James Marsden and Tye Sheridan previously played the role.
Samara Weaving has also been linked to the film as Emma Frost. However, Marvel has not publicly confirmed the complete lineup. Studio representatives have not commented on the reported casting details.
The upcoming film is part of Marvel’s plans for its mutant characters after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox’s entertainment assets. The franchise also returned to the MCU through Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
A full cast reveal could clarify which familiar characters will lead Marvel’s new mutant era. The reported roles remain “unconfirmed” until the studio makes an official announcement.
