The Batman Part II has received a promising update from one of the key figures behind the franchise’s debut. Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino has confirmed that he expects to return for Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated DC sequel, even though a formal contract has not yet been signed.
Giacchino, who composed the haunting score for 2022’s The Batman, shared the news while speaking with ScreenRant at the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The composer said that he felt reassured by his longstanding collaboration with Reeves.
He said, “I don’t think there’s a world where Matt Reeves would allow me not to be involved. He and I are such good friends, and I love working with Matt more than anybody; he’s the greatest. We still have a little bit of time for that. Good things come to those who wait.”
Giacchino and Reeves have worked together on multiple projects. This includes Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, its sequel, War for the Planet of the Apes, and The Batman. Additionally, the composer has composed scores for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films.

Matt Reeves is directing The Batman Part II, co-writing the sequel with Mattson Tomlin. Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Other returning members are Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Bella Real, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.
Apart from the returning cast members, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Koch have joined the cast. However, not much is known about their roles in the film.
Following multiple schedule adjustments, The Batman Part II is currently slated for a theatrical release on February 18, 2028.
