Hawkeye Season 2 may be dead, but it looks like Marvel Studios is still planning to keep Hailee Steinfeld around as Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Based on the character created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung in 2005’s Young Avengers #1, Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop made her MCU debut in the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye. Since then, she has appeared in only one other live-action project, 2023’s The Marvels, in which she was recruited by Ms. Marvel to join the team she was assembling. Steinfeld also voiced variants of the character in episodes of What If…? and Marvel Zombies.
What does the future hold for Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop in the MCU?
In a new post on X, insider Alex Perez shared that, despite rumors, Kate Bishop is not expected to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While her exclusion will likely come as a disappointment to some parts of the MCU fandom, Perez did note that “she’ll play a key role in the events to come” in the MCU.
This could be either a hint at Bishop appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, something that has also been rumored, or merely a tease at her being part of the Young Avengers lineup alongside Ms. Marvel and Cassie Lang. Another possibility is that she could appear in an upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again. Not only does Kate Bishop call New York City home, but her mother’s ex-fiancé, Jack Duquesne, played by Tony Dalton, is already a recurring part of the show.
So far, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is confirmed to feature two major MCU heroes: Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Daredevil and Yelena Belova, played by Charlie Cox and Florence Pugh, respectively, have also been rumored to appear in the Spider-Man sequel. However, their involvement remains unconfirmed by Marvel and Sony at this time.
As fans wait for Steinfeld to make another appearance in the MCU as Kate Bishop, they can rewatch all six episodes of Hawkeye on Disney+.
