New details about the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of a long-awaited superhero team in Avengers: Doomsday have just been shared.
Which new Marvel team will debut in Avengers: Doomsday?
Avengers: Doomsday will bring together several established MCU teams to face off against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Sam Wilson’s Avengers, the New Avengers (formerly the Thunderbolts), the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four will all be featured prominently in the upcoming crossover movie, as will the Young Avengers, according to a new report from insider Nerd Tower.
Responding to a post on X about Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Cassie Lang sharing scenes in Doomsday, Nerd Tower added (translated from Portuguese), “They filmed a scene in Kate’s apartment and only Kamala was in uniform, that’s all I know about it.”
If true, the Doomsday scene seems to be a continuation of the one that began in 2023’s The Marvels. The scene in question saw Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel recruiting Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop/Hawkeye to be part of her new superhero team. The scene also hinted that Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang/Stature was next on Khan’s teammate hitlist.
While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm Vellani, Steinfeld, and Newton as part of the Doomsday cast, several scoopers and insiders have strongly hinted that all three will be in the movie. Last month, James Mack stated that three members of the Young Avengers would appear in Doomsday, while MyTimeToShineHello suggested that Ms. Marvel would be the only returning hero from The Marvels in Doomsday.
Plot details remain heavily under wraps for Avengers: Doomsday, which will take place 14 months after the main events of Thunderbolts*. The crossover movie was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, marking their long-awaited return to the MCU. The pair previously helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
