A new, exciting update for Marvel Studios‘ highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday movie has been revealed, teasing what fans can expect from its upcoming reshoots. Later this year, the fifth installment of the blockbuster franchise will debut in theaters on December 18, followed by the theatrical release of Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
What’s the new update for Avengers: Doomsday?
According to insider MyTimeToShineHello on X, Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to film “more epic action scenes” during the scheduled reshoots of Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to start earlier this year. This new update continues to hype up the upcoming movie’s larger scale and scope, as recent reports also claim that Doomsday will exceed fan expectations in terms of its quality and action.
In addition to adding more action sequences, it has also been rumored that the studio will be enlisting lots of new cast members for the reshoots. The additional reshoot cast may potentially include Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Hailee Steiner as Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Stephen McFeely writing the screenplay. The latest installment will feature the return of Avengers vets Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The ensemble cast will also include Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Lewis Pullman, Simu Liu, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Danny Ramirez.
The fifth Avengers installment will also feature the return of X-Men stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Recent casting rumors suggested that Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Peggy Carter, and Spider-Man might also appear in Doomsday.
