Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars movie has received an intriguing new update, teasing the potential return of one of the original MCU stars. This comes ahead of Avengers: Doomsday‘s highly anticipated premiere this year on December 18. Afterward, the studio will then release Secret Wars in theaters on December 17, 2027.
Which MCU star is potentially returning for Avengers: Secret Wars?
The latest Avengers: Secret Wars rumor comes from scooper Chad of The Geeky Cast, who claims that MCU vet Chris Evans will “100%” appear on the sixth installment of the blockbuster franchise.
This Avengers: Secret Wars report also teases the importance of Evans’ role in the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday, where the Knives Out actor will first make his return as Steve Rogers. Many thought this would be Evans’ final MCU appearance, but that appears to not be the case. Should this new update be proven, Evans and Robert Downey Jr. would be the only Marvel stars to appear in all of the studio’s Avengers movies.
So far, the only confirmed cast members for Secret Wars are The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr. is also expected to appear as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. A previous report suggested that Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to start production on Avengers: Secret Wars sometime in April 2026 under the working title, Apple Pie 2. Just like Doomsday’s shooting schedule, filming might also last until September 2026.
According to a recent listing, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man is reportedly one of the movie’s main cast members. Besides Holland, his Spider-Man: Brand New Day co-star, Sadie Sink, is also being rumored to have joined the Secret Wars cast. Rumors about her character continue to circulate online, with many fans speculating that she might be playing Jean Grey.
