A new report on the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars suggests that the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t be as connected as it previously has been after the events of the movie.
What’s the latest report on the status of the MCU after Avengers: Doomsday?
In a new Q&A session on The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked about how fans might expect the MCU to overlap in the future. Perez noted that, rather than overlapping, we’ll actually see the cosmic, supernatural, and “street level” side of the MCU stay very much apart until it’s time for another “event” movie.
“Isolated side stories that won’t interconnect until the big blockbuster end-of-the-world story hits,” said Perez in his answer.
Currently, little is known about the upcoming Secret Wars. However, it is expected to result in a “resetting” of the MCU and will likely see multiple universes clashing together. Ahead of the film’s release, Avengers: Doomsday will release. So far, several major stars from the MCU have been confirmed to be in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.
Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to be released on December 17, 2027. Ahead of that, though, Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.
