Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland has opened up about his experience filming his first Christopher Nolan movie, The Odyssey. In the upcoming epic drama, Holland is expected to portray the role of Telemachus, the son of Matt Damon’s Odysseus.
The Odyssey is written and directed by Nolan, based on the Greek poet Homer’s classic story of the same name. Matt Damon has signed on for the leading role of Greek hero Odysseus. The star-studded ensemble cast also includes Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Himesh Patel, Samantha Morton, Will Yun Lee, and more.
Tom Holland shares his experience filming The Odyssey
During a recent interview with GQ, Holland revealed that filming The Odyssey was the “best experience” he have ever had on a movie set. This seems different from the past experiences he had on his previous movies like Uncharted and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man films.
“It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I’ve had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” Holland said.
The Marvel star also shared what it was like working with his acting heroes, Anne Hathaway, and Matt Damon, who he shares most of his scenes with in The Odyssey.
“Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure,” He continued. “To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I’ve ever had. Matt Damon has always been a hero of mine, Anne Hathaway has always been a hero of mine. So to share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them, I couldn’t have asked for a better job. And I’m so proud of the work I’ve done. I came to work every day with a real sense of purpose and a point to prove, and I’m so grateful for Chris to have given me that opportunity.”
The Odyssey will hit theaters on July 17, 2026.
