Marvel Studios’ long-rumored Midnight Sons MCU movie has a brand new update, teasing the project’s current status. This comes after the future of the Blade remake remains uncertain, as the project continues to endure creative delays.
What is the Midnight Sons MCU movie update?
According to insider Daniel Richtman, the development on the Midnight Sons movie is “moving again” at Marvel Studios, after it was previously reported that the studio had decided to pause the project. At the moment, it currently has no cast, director, or release date attached to it.
The project will be based on the Marvel Comics series created by Howard Mackie, Andy Kubert, and Bobby Chase in 1993. It centered around a team of supernatural heroes consisting of Ghost Rider, Blade, Moon Knight, Elsa Bloodstone, Doctor Strange, and more. Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe started its Multiversal saga, Marvel Studios has begun exploring the horror genre with the Disney+ release of Moon Knight, Werewolf By Night, and Agatha All Along. However, the studio hasn’t really made any official announcements regarding their plans on what to expect from the MCU’s supernatural side.
It has already been six years since Kevin Feige announced the surprise casting of Mahershala Ali as the MCU’s Blade. Up until now, the project has remained in development after going through multiple director changes. Despite this, the Oscar winner is reportedly still attached to play the anti-hero, which he briefly played at the end of 2021’s Eternals as a voice cameo. While Ali’s official debut remained in limbo, the character Blade made its MCU debut last year in Deadpool & Wolverine, after Wesley Snipes reprised his iconic role.
