Ahead of any official Spider-Man 4 casting announcements, Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D’Onofrio has revealed whether fans can expect to see Daredevil and Kingpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.
In late 2024, a report emerged stating that Marvel Studios and Sony were fighting over whether Spider-Man 4 should be a grounded street-level movie or another multiverse story like Spider-Man: No Way Home. While Daredevil and Kingpin have previously been rumored to play a role in the Spider-Man sequel, D’Onofrio recently stated that neither character will appear in the movie.
During an interview with Meltdown Press alongside Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), D’Onofrio addressed whether the Daredevil: Born Again co-leads would be appearing in Spider-Man 4. “Well, for you, we’re not. You can ask that because we’re not in Spider-Man 4, or at least nobody has told me that we are,” D’Onofrio remarked.
D’Onofrio’s comments come roughly a week after Cox shared in a different interview how he thought Daredevil’s chances of appearing in Avengers: Doomsday or Spider-Man had never been higher.
“I would love to be in one of the Avengers films, or another Spider-Man, or something like that. For a couple of reasons. One, because over the years I have become a geeky fan of the character, and I weirdly, for the character’s sake, feel like it’d be really cool for him to get that kind of upgrade,” Cox explained. The second reason is that it would likely improve his “chances of getting other movie roles.”
The Spider-Man 4 cast so far consists of one name
At the time of writing, the only actor attached to Spider-Man 4 is Tom Holland, who is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the seventh time. While Zendaya is also expected to appear in Spider-Man 4, her casting has not been officially confirmed by Marvel or Sony yet.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, followed by Spider-Man 4 in theaters on July 31, 2026.
