WWE’s Seth Rollins Talks Captain America: Brave New World Mystery Role

WWE superstar Seth Rollins has teased his role in Marvel StudiosCaptain America: Brave New World.

Per ComicBook.com, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion was a special guest on Last Meals with Mythical Chef Josh Scherer, where he discussed his acting debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he could not reveal the story details behind his mystery character, Rollins believes that his performance will entice WWE fans to see it. “Nope, can’t do that! Can’t tell you nothing about that,” Rollins joked.

He continued, “It was a really good experience and I think it’s going to be pretty cool. I think our audience is going to love it. I think their audience is going to love it, so it was a cool crossover to be able to jump into some totally different skin and try a new thing out for me.”

Rollins tackles the big screen

The multi-time WWE Champion and former member of the popular wrestling faction The Shield had previously made acting cameos in such movies as Sharknado: The 4th Awakens and Like a Boss with Rose Byrne. Captain America: Brave New World, however, will mark the wrestling superstar’s first blockbuster movie in a role rumored to be an established Marvel supervillain. For Rollins, the pressure to succeed in the MCU was more nervewracking than stepping into the ring.

“I’m not comfortable … like, look, I’m 38. I’ve only been doing wrestling for 20 years. Only, nonstop. That’s it. I worked in like crappy restaurants and a carwash when I was in my early 20s, and that’s it,” Rollins said. “Other than that all I’ve done is wrestling, so anytime I get out of my comfort zone I am nervous. I’m like I suck at this, I don’t know what I’m doing, but I was in good hands and it was a really fun experience and I’m excited to see how it turns out.”

Directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, Captain America: Brave New World continues the events of 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+. The movie sees star Anthony Mackie reprise his MCU role as Sam Wilson, now adopting the persona of Captain America. He will be joined by Rollins along with co-stars Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and Shira Haas. Additionally, Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson are also set to appear as General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross, Betty Ross, and Samuel Sterns/Leader, respectively.

Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled for release on July 26, 2024.
