The cast of Zack Snyderâs Rebel Moon is going supernova. According to The Hollywood Reporter, several new actors have joined the upcoming Netflix film. The roster now includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Bae Doona, and Ray Fisher.
Combining the epic scale of Star Wars with a samurai influence, Rebel Moon centers on a peaceful colony of humans living at the edge of the galaxy. When its inhabitants are threatened by tyrant named Belisarius, they send a young woman with a mysterious past to find allies on neighboring planets. Sofia Boutella was previously selected to play this character last fall.
Additionally, Snyder has cast Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang to play supporting roles in the film as well. Details are slim, but Hounsou is reportedly playing a character named General Titus. Meanwhile, Doonaâs character is described as âa nemesis who is proficient with a sword,â and Fisher is starring as a resistance fighter named Blood Axe.

Hunnam is still widely remembered for his role as Jax Teller FXâs Sons of Anarchy. More recently, he appeared in Guy Ritchieâs The Gentlemen. Last year, Hounsou starred in A Quiet Place Part II and reprised his role as Korath in Marvelâs What IfâŚ? animated series. Doona is primarily known for her appearances in Korean cinema, including Bong Joon-hoâs The Host and Park Chan-wookâs Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. However, she has also had English-speaking roles in Cloud Atlas and Netflixâs Sense8. Snyder previously worked with Fisher when he cast him as Victor Stone/Cyborg in Justice League.
Netflix hasnât announced a release date for Rebel Moon. But production will begin in April and run through November.
