There’s a new Pinhead in town. According to Deadline, Hulu and Spyglass have announced the full cast for the next installment in the long-running Hellraiser franchise. Jamie Clayton will headline the film as the iconic Cenobite, Pinhead.
Clayton’s casting marks the first time that Pinhead has been played by a woman. Actor Doug Bradley originated the role in Clive Barker’s first Hellraiser film in 1987 and returned to play the character in seven sequels before stepping down with 2005’s Hellraiser: Hellworld. In subsequent installments, Pinhead was played by Stephan Smith Collins and Paul T. Taylor.
Fans of Netflix’s Sense8 may recognize Clayton from her starring role as Nomi Marks in both seasons of that series. More recently, she has also booked recurring stints on Designated Survivor, Roswell New, Mexico, and The L Word: Generation Q. Joining Clayton in the Hellraiser reboot are Odessa A’zion, Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo, and Hiam Abbass. Unfortunately, Hulu didn’t provide any breakdowns for their characters.

David Bruckner is directing Hellraiser from a script by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski and a story by David S. Goyer. Surprisingly, the movie has already wrapped production. The reboot also notably features Barker’s return to the franchise for the first time since Hellraiser: Bloodline hit theaters in 1996. Barker will serve as a producer on the new film. Additionally, Spyglass production president Peter Oillataguerre issued a new statement that seemed to indicate plans for a 2022 release.
“Next year marks the 35th anniversary since Hellraiser first haunted our dreams,” said Oillataguerre. “It’s only fitting to come full circle in collaborating with Clive, the original creator and master of visionary horror. We look forward to working with our partners at Hulu in bringing this unique take on the original to new audiences.”
