Columbia Pictures’ New Aquaverse Theme Park is Coming To Thailand
Some of Columbia Pictures’ biggest film franchises are about to make a literal splash on the Thai coast. According to Deadline, the studio has revealed plans to enter the theme park trade later this year. The park, conveniently named the Aquaverse, is scheduled to open in Thailand in October.
Aquaverse will be spread out across 14 acres in the seaside town of Bangsaray. As Deadline notes, is 90 minutes from the country’s capital of Bangkok. Developers are currently planning eight unique zones for the park, each of which is based on a different Columbia property. The attractions will be both water and land-based. Plus, guests can dine at various themed eateries and take home “specialty merchandise” as souvenirs.
Leading the list of Aquaverse attractions is Men in Black Thrill Rides, a new water coaster that features a wormhole-simulating 12-meter freefall. Additionally, the park will host the Ghostbusters Supernatural Experience, which includes another water coaster that has riders “zip across ghost traps” as they slide down a water coaster. The attraction also includes the world’s “first and only” fully-enclosed water dome, where guests can participate in a family raft ride. Visitors can find even more water slides at the Jumanji Jungle Adventure. There, fans will run from Mandrills before diving into a big splash pool.
The park will also boast new rides inspired by Bad Boys, Surf’s Up, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and this year’s musical film, Vivo. However, Aquaverse’s biggest attraction is based on Columbia’s Hotel Transylvania series, with “over 100 water features” on the way. You can also check out a new teaser video for the new park below.
