Official The Old Guard Poster Features a Lot of Weapons

Another new comic-book adaptation is hitting Netflix this Summer. The streaming service is bringing us The Old Guard, based on the Image comic series of the same name. Now Netflix has released a new poster for the upcoming movie, featuring all the main cast. Charlize Theron’s Andromache of Scythia is dominating the composition, while her team of fellow immortals is surrounding her. “Forever is harder than it looks,” reads the caption, referring to the fact that the protagonists have lived for thousands of years.

The official synopsis for The Old Guard reads:

“Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (Kiki Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.”

The cast sees Oscar winner Charlize Theron as Andromache of Scythia, and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) as Copley. It will also feature Marwan Kenzari as Yusuf Al-Kaysani, Kiki Layne as Niles Freeman, Matthias Schoenaerts as Sebastian le Livre, Luca Marinelli as Nicolo di Genova, Harry Melling as Merrick and Veronica Ngo.

Gina Prince-Bythewood is directing the movie from a script by comic book creator Greg Rucka, as he makes his feature screenplay debut. David Ellison, together with Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance are set to produce.

The film will be available for streaming on Netflix starting July 10.
