Why The Punisher Wasn’t in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Finale

The Punisher was not a part of Daredevil: Born Again season 2. While the character was pivotal in the previous Netflix version of the show and the first season of Born Again, the character was completely omitted in the second season. Here’s a breakdown of what may have happened to The Punisher that prevented him from appearing in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

Here’s why The Punisher wasn’t in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Fans were eagerly waiting for The Punisher to show up throughout the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. When Frank Castle did not appear throughout the series, most believed that he would make an appearance in the finale. However, he did not do that either.

While Castle did not make a physical appearance on the show, in the third episode of the new season, Daredevil and Karen found refuge in The Punisher’s hideout. The show partially explained his absence through Karen and Daredevil’s discussion about how Frank was possibly out in New York City, up to his usual deeds. But it was still rather odd that The Punisher was not a part of Daredevil’s efforts against Mayor Fisk.

This is a mystery that will be solved very soon. The Punisher was a part of Daredevil: Born Again season 1 and is also set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. So, there is a gap in The Punisher timeline. This will be explained in The Punisher: One Last Kill, which debuts in just one week.

The series will ideally explain where The Punisher was throughout the events of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and will also perhaps pave the way for the character’s appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

There is also a possibility that the events of One Last Kill overlap with the timeline in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, which perhaps stopped Castle from making an appearance in Daredevil’s storyline.

The Punisher: One Last Kill premieres on May 12 on Disney+.
