Many fans are wondering whether there’s any Freakier Friday popcorn bucket or merchandise available at the various theaters. The Disney body-swapping comedy will release nationwide on August 8, 2025, so some viewers are seeing if various theater chains will be offering anything special during the film’s run at AMC, Cinemark, Marcus Theaters, and Regal. Fortunately, this sequel to the 2003 classic Freaky Friday (which is itself a reboot of the original 1976 film) will have special collectibles on offer, though only one theater is actually offering a popcorn bucket this time around. That said, the film is still expected well at the box office.
What are the Freakier Friday popcorn buckets and theater merch?
Here’s a breakdown of all the Freakier Friday popcorn buckets and theater merchandise that will be available during the movie’s run, though supplies are limited for these special items.
Marcus Theaters
The only theater chain that will be offering a special popcorn bucket for Freakier Friday is Marcus Theaters. The novelty here is that it will be offering two items that mimic the body-swapping trope of the film: a Freakier Friday Switcheroo Popcorn Bucket that has a lid to make it look like a soda with ice and a Freakier Friday Fake-Out Cup that has a lid to make it look like a bucket of popcorn. They’re actually pretty nifty as items inspired by the movie’s core concept.
The officially-licensed 85-oz. popcorn bucket costs $22.99, which is just a few dollars more than the 32-oz. drink cup that is priced at $18.99. Both items are available at the official Marcus Theaters shop, but they are sold out at the time of writing. Still, your local chain might still have the bucket and cup available for sale, though you’ll likely need to snatch it up sooner than later.
Regal Theaters
As for Regal Theaters, the chain is not technically offering a collectible popcorn bucket for Freakier Friday, but it is featuring something called a Swapcorn bucket. It’s described as a “large popcorn in a divided bucket” with one half filled with classic buttered popcorn and the other half with caramel.
We’re not sure if the bucket has an actual partition in the middle or if the outside of the bucket has a picture or image from the movie. Either way, Regal will be giving double points toward its reward program to those who purchase the bucket from August 8 to August 24. Regal members can also use 100 credits to enter a Freakier Friday sweepstakes where they can win a trip to three-night trip to Los Angeles.
Those lucky enough to attend the Fan First Screening for the movie on August 6 at Regal will also receive a friendship bracelet set, one that has beads which say “FREAKIER” and another that says “FRIDAY”.
AMC Theaters
Similarly, AMC Theaters is also offering a Freakier Friday Fan First Screening on August 6 where they can get the same complimentary friendship bracelets. The chain will not be offering any popcorn buckets, but it also has a sweepstakes for a Los Angeles trip (it looks like the same prize). Instead of spending credits, entries into the contest can be earned by purchasing a ticket through the AMC Stubs Membership from August 6 to August 17.
Cinemark Theaters
In addition to the friendship-bracelet offer, Cinemark is also giving away a guitar pick keychain for those who can score a ticket to the movie’s first showing at Cinemark XD on August 7. Yeah, that’s not a lot of time to get the pick, but you might be able to grab a spot sooner than later. The metal keychain comes with a string of links to a green and purple guitar pick that has the Freakier Friday logo emblazoned on it.
