The Xenomorph is back, but this time, it’s not arriving in theaters. Alien: Earth, the franchise’s first-ever television series, is set to premiere in 2025, bringing terror to the small screen. From its streaming release date, cast and timeline placement to plot details and post-production insights, here are all the details.

When is Alien: Earth’s release date and where will it stream?

Alien: Earth’s release date is August 12, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and FX in the United States. Viewers in the UK and other international regions can stream it on Disney+, with the premiere airing at 8 p.m. PT on August 13, due to the time difference.

The show’s launch includes a two-episode premiere, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for international viewers. Season 1 will consist of eight episodes. Created by Noah Hawley, the series has wrapped filming and is now in heavy post-production.

Who will be in Alien: Earth’s cast?

Alien: Earth’s cast boasts a diverse ensemble, led by Sydney Chandler as Wendy, a hybrid human-synth with the body of an adult but the mind of a child. Timothy Olyphant plays Kirsh, her synthetic mentor. Other cast members include Alex Lawther as Hermit, Essie Davis as Dame Sylvia, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, Kit Young as Tootles, and Adarsh Gourav as Slightly.

Also featured are Erana James as Curly, David Rysdahl as Arthur Sylvia, Babou Ceesay as Morrow, Adrian Edmondson as Atom Eins, Lily Newmark as Nibs, and Jonathan Ajayi as Smee. Rounding out the cast are Diêm Camille as Siberian, Moe Bar-El as Rashidi, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Yutani.

When is Alien: Earth set in the franchise’s timeline?

Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120, just two years before the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 Alien. Chronologically, this places it after Alien: Covenant and before the Nostromo’s doomed mission. Notably, Alien: Earth unfolds on Earth, a rare departure for the series, which typically takes place in deep space.

Alien: Earth’s known plot details so far

Alien: Earth’s plot details remain undisclosed, but the official synopsis reveals, “When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, Wendy and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”
