How Andor Season 3 Could Still Happen Without Cassian

Andor premiered on Disney+ on September 21, 2022, and received widespread critical acclaim. The second season premiered on April 22, 2025, and continued to be well-received by critics, with the final episode airing on May 13, 2025. The series serves as a prequel to Rogue One, and the Season 2 finale effectively ties together the storylines of both the show and the 2016 film. However, fans are curious about the possibility of a third season. Here is what we think on the subject.

Could Andor Season 3 happen without Diego Luna’s Cassian?

The creators have confirmed that Andor officially ends with Season 2. However, the Star Wars universe has always found ways to expand its lore beyond the fate of a single character. So, while Diego Luna’s Cassian may be gone, a third season or a spiritual sequel movie isn’t impossible.

Since Cassian is dead, Andor Season 3 or a sequel movie could potentially focus on Cassian and Bix’s unnamed child, revealed at the end of Season 2‘s finale. An older version of this child could serve as its protagonist, with its plot being set after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (35 ABY), in present-day Star Wars.

Cassian accomplished great things as a rebel/spy/assassin and played a pivotal role in the fall of the Galactic Empire. However, he remained largely unknown. His child, who will be around 35 to 40 years old (depending on when the sequel season/movie begins), can have a similar reputation, fighting future battles as an unsung hero while the likes of Rey Skywalker take the spotlight.

This child, who could be portrayed by a new (A-list) actor, would carry Andor’s legacy forward, exploring post-Empire era conflicts. Furthermore, older versions of familiar surviving characters like Bix, Kleya, Vel, and Wilmon could return after Season 2. Similar actors could play them using makeup or CGI, or they could be recast with new, older actors.

The rebellion against the Galactic Empire is at the core of the narrative in Andor Seasons 1 and 2. By 35 ABY, there is no Empire. Accordingly, if the story continues, it could have different motifs, villains, themes, and even a new tone.

For now, the aforementioned Andor Season 3 pitch remains a compelling idea. Lucasfilm has made no official announcements regarding continuation. However, given Star Wars’ history of spin-offs and expanded stories, the door is far from closed.
