Superhero Hype Cosplay: Rogue
Note From the Editor: It might be a few years before the X-Men enter the MCU, but we’re still big fans of Marvel’s mutant heroes. This week, Superhero Hype’s cosplay correspondent, Ashlynne Dae, is sharing her take on the X-Men’s southern belle, Rogue, in her Jim Lee-designed costume from the ’90s. This is still one of Rogue’s most popular outfits over two decades later.
Rogue is probably my second favorite X-Men team member. After Jean Grey of course, she’ll always be my number one!
But Rogue is one of my favorite mutants in general. I have always loved her for her sweet southern drawl and expressions.
I also love her backstory of redemption, conflict, and journey to find love and family.
I feel a lot of empathy for Rogue as well, because for most of her life, she couldn’t control her powers or touch another human being without absorbing their thoughts and memories. That made her feel extremely isolated and alone.
I know a lot of us right now are still craving human contact while we wait out this pandemic, and we can’t do anything about it, I can’t imagine what it would be like to permanently live that way.
This costume was actually borrowed from my friend, Reagan Kathryn, who is my favorite real life southern belle.
Rogue’s classic green and yellow bodysuit and crop jacket was always my favorite outfit.
But she does have some great costumes that I’d love to tackle someday.
This is definitely making me itch to reshoot the Savage Land Rogue cosplay I made a few years ago!
